Mount
the weed guard on the first branch of the double hook (see above box A).
Wind back the tying thread with tight turns along the shank where it is
tied ( do not cut off) and position the second weed guard there on either
side of the shank inserting one of its branches between those of the first
weed guard. Then proceed as with the first and bring the thread with
touching turns to the bend.

Fold
20cm of 19 strand/12kg wire trace to make a 10cm braid. Insert a #3 link
swivel in the loop of the trace. Thread a small stiff tube in an 8cm Mylar
braid. Insert the mounted trace, then pull off the tube. Next to the
swivel, bind the braid over the trace and tie off. Offer up the whole rig
on the shank leaving at least 5cm between the bend and the end of the link.
Bind with very tight touching turns down to mid shank. Fold the trace
backward, bind it very tightly winding backward level with the barb. Cut
off the excess and apply a liberal coating of cyanolite along the whole
shank. Leave to dry.

With
the tying thread, form a small ball ( or a cone, as previously), level
with the hook points. Apply cyanolite carefully on the ball, and lightly
on the Mylar braid to stiffen it a little. Also apply a drop of glue on
the loop attaching trace and swivel. (Be careful not to glue the swivel
pivot.)

Thread
the silicone runner over the Mylar braid using a threader. Adjust the
runner's length to be able to open the link. Remove the threader.

Stack
a bunch of 10cm Ultra hair fibres. Bring the tying thread to 3 or 4mm in
front of the ball. Position the Ultra hair and tie it with two loose turns,
then spin the fibres evenly round the shank. Flare the fibres with two or
three tight turns. Go on binding with moderately tight touching turns to
the top of the ball. Apply cyanolite on the whip finish and the base of
the fibres. Leave to dry and snip off excess.

Upend
the hook and offer up a bunch of about 12cm silver Mylar, tie with two or
three turns of thread. Right the hook back in the vice and tie a bunch of
Mylar of the colour chosen for the wing.

– Offer
up the chenille, tie it along 1cm or so. Wind the chenille tight down to
the waiting thread and tie. In a hair stacker, even out a pinch of 3 to
4cm Ultra hair and tie it with a knot of eight on either side of the shank.
The first moustache is thus formed. Wind the thread backward with touching
turns on 3 to 4mm. Continue winding the chenille with touching turns. Tie
the second moustache. Do the same for the third one.

Stop
winding the chenille level with the weed guard with a few turns of the
thread backward, then forward. Place the weed guards. Form the head with a
whip finish and some glue. Apply a drop of cyanolite to cement the knots
of each moustache.
|
9
– Trim
the moustaches slantwise, a little shorter on one side of the shank than
on the other to produce a slight asymmetry. Stick the eyes behind the
moustaches with cyanolite gel. Do the same for the topping formed with a
rabbit fur strip of 2 to 3cm stuck on a coating of cyanolite gel.

Link
the first module ( with the single hook) to the link swivel. Set the
runner backward to stop on the weed guard of the tail hook. Position the
latter by turning it as you wish ( hook point facing upward, downward or
sideways). The modular Moustache streamer is ready to catch pike!
